Motherwell rejoins the Kootz Gallery when it reopens at 600 Madison Avenue after a one-year hiatus. The gallery’s first exhibition is The Intrasubjectives, organized by Kootz and with a catalogue featuring an essay by Harold Rosenberg, brings together the artists who will later become known as the Abstract Expressionists: de Kooning, Gorky, Pollock, Rothko, Reinhardt, Tomlin, Baziotes, Gottlieb, Hare, Hans Hofmann, and Motherwell.
