Black and White at the Jewish Museum, curated by Sam Hunter, includes paintings by Motherwell, de Kooning, Kline, and Newman alongside works by their younger contemporaries Jasper Johns, Robert Rauschenberg, Ellsworth Kelly and Frank Stella. Motherwell’s 1950 essay “Black or White” is reprinted in the exhibition catalogue.
