Bradley Walker Tomlin, a retrospective exhibition, is held at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The exhibition catalogue features essays by curator John I.H. Baur, Philip Guston, and Motherwell. Barnett Newman writes Baur to protest Motherwell’s essay, beginning the first of several public feuds the two will engage in over the next decade.
